Conjunctions & Prepositions

Conjunctions are linking words that join related sentences.
Tim worked hard and finished the fence by 3pm.

Prepositions tell you that one thing is related to another in space or time.
Afterwards, Tim went to sleep on the sofa.

Word Order And Meaning

Meaning can get lost in long compound sentences so it's important to use the word order to clarify the meaning. Try to :
-- keep your connected words close and your adverbs closer.
-- keep your subject and verb as close as possible.
-- keep phrases and subordinate clauses as close as possible to the words they refer to.

Adverbs like only and just can change the meaning of a sentence depending on their location.
She only told me today.
She told me only today.
